Carolyn Custis James holds an M.A. in Biblical Studies and is an international conference speaker for churches, colleges, seminaries, and other Christian organizations. She is President of WhitbyForum. Her books include When Life and Beliefs Collide: How Knowing God Makes a Difference, Lost Women of the Bible: The Women We Thought We Knew, Understanding Purpose, and most recently, The Gospel of Ruth: Loving God Enough to Break the Rules.
Carolyn is founder and president of the Synergy Women’s Network, Inc., in partnership with Reformed Theological Seminary/Orlando, Campus Crusade for Christ International, and The Impact Movement. The Synergy Women’s Network and Gifted for Leadership co-sponsor annual Synergy conferences for women engaged or emerging in vocational ministry.
In addition to being President of WhitbyForum, Carolyn is a consulting editor for Zondervan's Exegetical Commentary Series on the New Testament. She serves on the editorial advisory board of Gifted for Leadership, an international online ministry for women and a resource of Christianity Today in partnership with Leadership Journal. She is a contributor to Common Grounds Online.
A pastor's daughter, Carolyn grew up in Portland, Oregon. During the years between seminary and her present ministries, she had her own business as a computer software developer in Oxford, England. Her husband Frank is President of Reformed Theological Seminary/Orlando. They and their grown daughter Allison live in Orlando, Florida.
