Call Yourself a Pastor

This blog is going to be super-short because two things happened tonight:

1) My two-year old son is beginning to sleep in his older brother and sister's room. He gets up every two minutes for an hour now and counting...

2) I just lost the halfway-done post I was working on. Rookie mistake...

So let  me offer up this admonition: if you are a pastor or a minister, please call yourself a "pastor" or "minister." Especially if you are a lead pastor or senior minister. Perhaps one day I'll list the reasons that titles such as Cultural Catalyst, Cultural Innovator, Ideation Strategist, Semiotician, Compassionary, Dream Weaver (okay, I made that one up) are next to ridiculous. Suffice it to say for now that I'm quite sure that those of you/us who use those terms will one day look back upon them cringing with regret, much like our parents look back on the baby-blue bell-bottom suit with ruffles in their wedding pictures.

Call yourself a pastor, pastor.
